The role of a dental hygienist has two main components. First, he or she works to educate patients on the value of good oral hygiene. This may involve providing advice on dietary modifications, demonstrating proper flossing techniques, or explaining how to select the right toothbrush. A dental hygienist is also responsible for assisting the dentist with his or her work.
